Whitney Jordan, Fashion Historian

FASHION

I’m Whitney, a fashion historian and lecturer based in New York and London.

Before academia, I was a fashion buyer. After academia, I’ll be an industry leader shaping the future of fashion.

I have worked in fashion 12 years and counting. I’ve researched, lectured, critiqued, consulted, forecasted, and written. My work bridges academia and industry, focusing on the cultural narratives that shape fashion.

I specialize in contemporary Black fashion (2010s-present), ensuring it has a rightful place in the fashion canon.

When I’m not researching and teaching, I provide merchandising strategy for a global retailer. Originally from Ohio, my journey has taken me from the Midwest to studying and living in New York and London. These experiences inspire my writing and research, deepening my expertise and allowing me to share insights that shape my practice and connect with others in the field.
